Happiness is Family?

The families in Chile generally are bigger, for example, in the south of the country, the families are made of 8 or 9 people, this number of people for one family is a lot, but in the centre are less than in the south, this is basically because the people have different mentalities. The mentality is different because everyone wants to come downtown and have money.
My country is characterized by a high percentage of annual femicides, there is much violence in the family, the children suffer a lot with these events, lost in drug addiction and they suffer and their mothers who are the hardest hit. Since year 2000 until today have been published many violent acts against women.
Young people in Chile are less independent than in developed countries, because there are fewer opportunities, but it is contradictory because in recent times there are many young working in different jobs.
Every day children are growing more distant to her parents, this is due to all the family problems, we urgently need to improve these defects of our society.

I'm studying the "BARRAS BRAVAS"

I am studying the problem or case, from its beginning, of the “barras bravas”, specifically from Colo Colo and the University of Chile. The concept of “barras bravas” refers to the group of individuals, fundamentally made up of young people, who organize themselves to support a football team. They also, at great risks, are characterized as violent due to their delinquent acts committed during football games at the stadium and in the streets outside of the event.

In order to study this problem, I have had to constantly attend the activities organized by these young people that occur inside and outside of the stadium, in other words, I have been a participating observer, a known method in the anthropological field.

The interesting part of their system is that not all of the participants in these groups are delinquents, like the majority of the mass communications portray them. In general, the participants are people that have few resources and are from marginal sectors of the city, however, none of the participants are exactly the same.

From the beginning, the first element of the “barras bravas”, from Colo Colo and the University of Chile, that caught my attention, was that I could observe these young people from a different view because I had already attended games at the stadium, but now I have the tools necessary to describe and present the “barras bravas” from a new perspective.

Weekends...

Every weekend I play alot soccer. I play soccer for the university Saturday and with friends on Sunday. I always play a lot of soccer and this is problem sometimes that I dont have the time for study, read, or see friends. Every Saturday I play in the morning and sleep in the afternoon to see friends in the night. Sunday I awake early to play soccer again. The afternoon on the Sunday I try to do work for school and prepare the week. The last game was not good when I fractured my ankle. I like to go out with friends of the team to drink and eat. Last weekend I didn´t do it. I had to be in my bed 2 days with much pain. After the 2 days I walk with crutches with much difficulty. This weekend was not as much fun as other weekends. I like to go out with friends to party at a pub or at a house for a barbeque. This is the best way to relax from school.

Online shopping / How stuff works...

Online shopping...

1)
a) Nike Soccer Ball
b) Sony Camcorder
c) Umbro Jacket
d) Playstation 3 console
e) Beer and Wine cooler

2)
These things aren’t essential but I want to have them for enternaiment with my friends. The products they chose, could have been chosen by a child, but it would be fun to have them. It is very difficult for me to buy the five things because they are all very expensive. All the things I chose are beautiful but are not entirely necessary.

How stuff works….

I chose the theme called “Totem”. This article has a direct connection with the study of anthropology. Totem is an important discipline and that's why I selected it. The author of the article explains that Totem, in anthropology, is an animal or another object that is associated with a group of people, usually a clan (a group claiming descent from a common ancestor). Members of the group generally regard the Totem as their special friend, protector, and often, a mythical or real ancestor. The most interesting part of the article is that there is a consensus to refer to the Totem, and not just in a given region but throughout the world.

Presentation

Hello my name is Rodolfo Angel and I'm studying antrophology at the university of Chile. This university is the best in my country. My studies need the application of english because a large part of the information we study is in English. This is my first blog and I created it to upload the activities done in the class. I know that it is very important to have a blog because it is a tool to connect people and share information around the world. This year, I'm very excited to start learning about one of the most important languages. In this course there are many people, all with the desire to write, read and speak in english.
